I-80 Ramps

Ramp Closures

The westbound I-80 on-ramp from 1300 East in Salt Lake City will be closed overnight on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and Thursday, Sept. 22, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night to accommodate work on the 1300 East bridge over I-80.

During this closure, drivers can access westbound I-80 using the on-ramp from 700 East, as shown in the map below.

Ramp Reconstruction

The following ramps are currently being reconstructed as part of the project:

  • Westbound I-80 on-ramp from 1300 East

  • Eastbound I-80 on-ramp from 1300 East

  • Eastbound I-80 off-ramp to 2300 East

To reconstruct these ramps, crews will shift traffic to a temporary lane. Then, crews will remove and crush the concrete pavement that is on the existing ramp and replace it with new concrete.

Westbound I-80 On-Ramp From 1300 East

The westbound I-80 on-ramp from1300 East is being reconstructed. Work on this ramp began in mid-June 2021, and crews have since shifted traffic on the ramp and removed and replaced the concrete pavement. Drivers can expect traffic to remain shifted through spring 2023.

Eastbound I-80 On-Ramp From 1300 East

Crews began reconstructing the eastbound I-80 on-ramp from 1300 East in September 2021. Traffic is shifted to the south side of the ramp to accommodate reconstruction of the north side. Traffic will remain shifted through spring 2023.

Eastbound I-80 Off-Ramp to 2300 East
The eastbound I-80 off-ramp to 2300 East is also being reconstructed. Work on this ramp started in fall 2021. Crews have since reconstructed the north side of the ramp. Traffic is currently shifted to the north side of the ramp to accommodate reconstruction of the south side. Traffic will remain shifted through spring 2023.

Drivers can expect uneven pavement on these ramps, including drainage grates. They should use caution in the work zone.

I-215 Ramps

Northbound I-215 Ramp Closure

The northbound I-215 on-ramp from 3900 South will be closed from September 2021 through summer 2022 for reconstruction.

Crews have constructed a temporary northbound I-215 on-ramp located south of the existing ramp, as shown in the map.

Temporary Right Turn

To accommodate traffic flow, the southbound I-215 off-ramp to 4500 South was restriped to include a dedicated turn lane for drivers turning right onto westbound 4500 South.

Ramp Reconstruction

The northbound I-215 off-ramp to 3300 South and 3900 South is being reconstructed. Work on this ramp began in mid-June 2021, and crews have since removed and crushed the existing concrete pavement on the ramps.

To complete reconstruction, crews will place new concrete pavement on the ramp.

The southbound I-215 on-ramp from 3300 South and the southbound I-215 off-ramp to 4500 South are being reconstructed. In preparation for this work, traffic was shifted to a temporary lane.

Crews have since removed and crushed the existing concrete pavement that was on the ramps. To complete the reconstruction, crews will place new concrete pavement on the ramps.

This work is expected to last through 2022.

The construction schedule and activities are subject to change.
